6th Grade Teacher
6TH GRADE TEACHER
The Lab School of Washington, an independent school in NW for children with learning differences, is seeking a full-time teacher in the Intermediate program for students in the 5th and 6th grades. The teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching in math, written language, and literacy, as well as the supervision and management of students. A master's degree in Special Education is required and candidates must possess or be eligible for certification in the District of Columbia. Candidate must have enthusiasm, creativity and an exceptional ability to collaboratively plan and co-teach lessons with a teaching team.
The Lab School values its progressive philosophy of education that for 50 years has guided project-based learning for students with average and above intellectual abilities whose minds need to be nourished while they take the extra time they need to acquire proficient reading and writing skills. Through exposure to the arts, immersion in experiential learning opportunities, and engagement in hands-on science labs, Lab students discover the joy of learning and have practice in problem solving at an early age.
