Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Phoenixville Borough Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as Patrolman in the Phoenixville Borough Police Department.
Requirements: U.S. citizen, high school diploma or equivalency certificate, and must meet all Civil Service requirements.
Additionally, at the time of application, no applicant for any position in the Police Department shall be less than eighteen (18) years of age nor older than forty (40) unless such applicant shall have at least seven (7) years of prior experience as a police officer, in which event such applicants for the position of patrolman in the police department shall not be older than fifty (50) years of age at the time of application (Section 303 – Phoenixville Civil Service Regulations). For the purposes of this paragraph, prior experience as a police officer shall not include time employed in such positions as private security officer, a constable, a corrections officer, a sheriff’s department deputy or employee, or as a military police person.
Applicants must have completed a course of training as is required by the municipal police officer’s education and training program, Act 120 P.L. 359, Enacted June 18, 1974 (Act 120).

Annual starting salary of $85,945.69 (scaled beginning at 80% first year) Retirement Plan, Medical and Hospitalization Insurance, and Fringe benefits.
The physical agility test will be conducted Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 9:00 AM at the Phoenixville Area High School, Washington Field, Rain or Shine. Applicants who pass the physical agility test will be invited to stay for the written test which will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
