Acts as the front-line customer service support for incoming calls from inpatient units, nursing home clients, and outpatient physician offices concerning stat orders, specimen pickups and critical lab results. Coordinates stat courier services. Maintains professional and courteous behavior to ensure customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION: High school graduation or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year experience in laboratory specimen processing or customer service in a health care setting preferred.
LICENSE/CERT/REG: No special certification, registration or license required.
SKILLS: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. Proficient use of hospital registration systems as well as clinical laboratory information systems.
