Richard J. Santen Early Career Professorship
in Endocrine-Related Cancer
This tenure-track position in the Department of Medicine at Penn State University, M.S. Hershey Medical Center, is for either an M.D. or an M.D./Ph.D. Assistant Professor with no more than two years at this academic level. Candidates must be interested in pursuing either basic or clinical research in the area of breast, prostate, or thyroid cancer. The recipient of the Professorship will be given 75% protected time for three years with the option of renewal for three years with the goal of establishing an extramurally funded research program and being successful in achieving tenure status.
The appointment will be either in the Division of Medical Oncology or Endocrinology depending upon the research scope of the investigator. A joint appointment in a basic science department as appropriate will be encouraged. Membership in the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute will be mandatory.
Before selection of a recipient, the Professorship will be advertised nationally and the CVs of candidates solicited. A committee of three faculty members, one a member of the Cancer Institute, will constitute a search committee. The final decision about appointment will rest with the Department Chair with the concurrence of the Dean of the School of Medicine.
